emo Mazda Autozam Carol. Rare Kei Show Car.

04 Feb 2018 14:21 #26978

After a lot of thought and consideration, I am looking to sell my 1990 Autozam Carol, Type G, manual.

If you don't know Carol, she's been lovingly restored from the ground up (plenty of restoration photos available to show every step taken).

She has been used as the club's main draw at shows, helping to bring in crowds of interested parties (mostly wanting to know what she is) to the stand.

The original single cam engine has been replaced with a fully refurbished cappuccino engine, complete with all new seals, pistons, rings, gaskets, oil and water pumps, valves and a new turbo. She has a full, custom built stainless steel exhaust.

Her interior has been completely replaced with handmade panels, new seat material and a full sound system with subwoofer and bluetooth enabled headunit with CD player.

New wheels with new tyres, SPAX lowering springs, lower arms, recon'd calipers, new brake pads and discs fitted in 2015, done about 700 miles since then.

Carol's are based on the Suzuki Alto, with the vast majority of chassis/body parts being interchangeable (the 1996 Suzuki Alto seems to be the best model to target for parts).

Very unique little car, with her own personality and VERY popular at car shows.

Bad points:
Floor has surface rust on underside of rear passenger floor, but bodywork is otherwise in great condition, especially for a 28yr old Japanese car.

She has a dent on the driver side front wing and a smaller one on the passenger side sill.

Paintwork would benefit from a respray, mostly to seal the metalwork.

Currently has an intermittent idle issue. It's either the hoses aren't on the right ports, the idle control valve has failed or a hose is blocked. Will try and fix this before sale. Doesn't affect drive, but you occasionally get a higher idle when you pull up at the lights.

She's been rebuilt with a lot of attention to even the smallest detail. She's a big crowd pleaser and gets lots of attention wherever she goes.

I've also kept nearly all of her original parts, if you desired to remove any modifications from her, though her original interior is heavily stained and damaged.

She'll come with a MOT and viewing is welcome. I'm more than happy to run through the details of the work done on her on the phone too. She's in storage for winter, currently sorn'd, nr Jn11 of the M42 (Twycross).

Looking for £3450 but open to offers.

I'll be very sad to see this go. Hopefully she'll go to a great new home!
