2005 Honda Acty Truck 'Yuki'
Looooots of filler was used and then it received the worst spray job ever by a supposed BMW bodyshop professional. It's kind of hard to see in the pictures but up close in the flesh it looks more like some kids just poured a tin of paint over it.
Once in our possession, 1st thing we did was give Yuki a full service for a clean bill of health and he's been in service since.
Yuki's given quite a few bikes a ride:
Then the tires were completely dried out so it was time for some new shoes, I gave an old set of mazda mx5 wheels a spruce up had new 155/55/r14 rubber fitted
Now the real fun begins, finally the container from Japan arrived with Yuki's new bits (Yuki's hybrid brother helped out too, collecting all the parts from the warehouse), we plan to get a little creative on Yuki
The panels that were clumsily repaired before are in my opinion really not worth it to put any more time and effort in so we decided to replace them with second hand panels, most are from the van version, the honda vamos, with a bit more luxury such as electric windows, window visors and nicer door cards on the doors, fenders, bonnet, late model vamos front bumper with chrome grille and fog lights, vamos side skirts, and some other stuff.
Up next is to attack rust, we've done a thorough check and there's nothing serious to be found but surface rust is very present so best tackle it now and be done with it
Operation get rid of all the starting rust is well under way, I have a week off and plan to do most of the work in that time. For the most part it's getting rid of what the previous owner had done, just paint over the rust <.< which now makes it look worse and a lot more work getting rid of thickly brushed on paint everywhere.
For all the cleared metal we're going to use a 3-step system of POR15; clean it, prep it, coat it and after that POR15 bed liner for the truck bed and Honda trafetta white for the cabin, under the 'frunk' and we have bought some white and black stonechip.
Here you can also see how good of a job they did on painting the doors.
Get one, they're great. It's the very first production hybrid, even before the first prius. Doing motorway miles it does over 100 mpg. Personal best is 105,3 mpg over a 70 mile trip.
I got all the parts from auctions.yahoo.co.jp
Forgot to mention that a few days ago we unfortunately found the radiator had been repaired with some kind of glue on the plastic end tank, probably after the Yuki had been hit by a tractor , it starts leaking after the engine runs for some time, so ordered a new radiator, and whilst at it also 'Spiegel' black vinyl seat covers and acty specific floor mats.
I ordered some black vinyl seat covers, not your average seat covers but specifically made for the acty, they've not been shipped yet. they have them for the minicab too page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u106575986
