Just took it up the M32 to see what is was like at motorway cruising speeds.. not as bad as I thought at 80 as long as I am feathering the throttle...
Are the Turbo's on them quite noisy normally? I mean the sound of the Turbo whirring when you plant your foot is very noticeable.. Could I possibly have a worn Turbo bearing if it making such a.. not so much loud or bad noise as such, but pretty noticeable, mechanical, spinny, Whirring for sure... I like the noise but I don't want to drive it if I am knackering the Turbo or it is already knackered? It certainly has lots of power...
Obviously its my first real drive so I could just be acting all Newbie-ish. Apologies if so.. D

do you know what air filter is on the car ? that makes a difference to the noise you get, with a induction kit you get a flutter from the turbo

Here's a short vid of mine pulling away, there's a bit of wind noise though as I mounted my camera externally.
I've got a HKS Induction kit, stainless exhaust and running the OEM re-circ valve.

Might be worth pulling the inlet pipe off the turbo on the compressor side and having a feel of the turbo shaft, it wants to have very little play. Also get a light in and inspect the Turbo blades as well.
I have a open air filter and it it very noticeable when you plant the old foot!

Loving the chatter in first gear Ben...
Your car sounds more agressive / louder than mine ever did as a Rally car with a straight through!....and even more so since iv'e had the box put in the system.
I still think your cat has been removed at some point before you owned it, certainly feels rapid and boosts well.
Wonder how the sound of yours compares to other zato's here on the forum...anyone?

Ok so I went for decent drive today and I have noticed that the Bearingy, metallic sound is not coming from the Turbo, but I am pretty sure coming from the front diff..... a mild grinding, whirring that changes pitch in relation to the wheel speed and what gear I am in.. also it is a noisier rumble/grinding when pulling away in a high gear at low revs.. I thought it might be a wheel bearing but under hard acceleration I occasionally get a screech from the front of the car that sounds distinctly drive train like.. and also some random clunks and clangs that are most deffo not wheel bearing like.. I have some video where you can hear this.. will upload it later.
I noticed small oil drops where it was parked this morning and after driving around for an hour or so it became much more noticeable, I went to Halfords to buy some diff oil but was unsure which type to get.. (Geez I am such a Newb!!!) So I bought some tools instead
On Returning to the car there were oil spots on the car park from it being sat for less than 20 mins.. also there is a mild burn't oil smell.. The leak is coming from behind the bell housing somewhere from what I can make out, dripping from pretty much centre of the engine bay underside.
So what I need to know is..
What Diff/gear oil to use
Where the hell do I top it up?? so I can see if the whine and grind is less once topped up..
Is there a front diff seal that goes on these?
I guess it could be the transfer box instead huh???
The gearbox feels smooth and changes gear fine,
I also guess I shouldn't drive it really...right? Shall I get a garage to diagnose this do you think? Gaaaaahhhh Still a great car, wasn't expecting it to be totally smooth sailing..
