God, I haven't on this forum in ages! Just looking to get enlightened about the Copen :) There isn't many kei cars in Ireland, so I'm kinda in the dark with most things ha.

Are parts, original and aftermarket, hard to come by? Like D-Sport and such.

I'm looking to put a K3VET into one. Has anyone done it and is it difficult?

Are they a nice daily driver, putting practicality aside?

Do they have common faults and what do look out for when buying one?

What has me hooked is the design, fuel economy compared to my current car, tax and insurance, and they're just mad looking cars ha. The more info, the better :) Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hi Terence,
Here's a link to a Copen buyers guide.

Service parts are fine. Any other spares can still be bought through ex-Daihatsu dealers. Although you might need to plan ahead as the parts might need to come from Japan.

As for D-Sport stuff. You'll need to import from Japan. I used Jesse Streeter for my D-Sport stuff.
Or you might get lucky & find some used stuff on e-bay.

I ran mine as a daily driver. With the roof up, you could quite a bit of stuff in the boot. The ride is hard though. You'll be avoiding every lump, bump & manhole cover.

Oh, thanks!

I don't mind importing parts from Japan. My Mazda dealer does that for me. The joys of owning an import :/

I've heard about Jesse alright. You pick stuff off Yahoo Auctions and he'll do the heavy lifting.

Would you get your shopping from Tesco in the boot? I don't mind if the ride is harsh. Its gonna get coilovers and such :P

The boot is a good size with the roof up. I can fit a suitcase or weeks shopping for 4 adults in there. Even managed my husbands golf clubs once! With the roof down you can fit two shoeboxes if you are lucky :woohoo:
Adams buyers guide is a brilliant place to start looking for potential problems as well as the good aspects of Copen driving  I drive mine daily and although the ride is hard you do get used to it. The Copen is always fun to drive.
I've picked a few things up on ebay for my car but you do have to keep a regular eye on it to catch things when they become available.
Enjoy researching!

Cheers Clare.

Even buying things off eBay will be difficult, since I'm on the other side of the waters :P There's hardly any Daihatsu enthusiasts as well. No Daihatsu's at Jap Fest either :O

I do know of one Copen in Ireland. :cheer: the owner has ordered quite a few things from Japan direct and through Jesse Streeter. He is based in Dublin and has got some things from ebay but may have had them sent to his works London office!
