i 'lost' my Acadiane van in similar circumstances....
someone applies for V5c, you get the letter and need to reply with the relevant info including pics of chassis nos etc, a tad difficult if you have no access to said vehicle...basically if you have the car in your possession you eventually 'own' it after a while.
guy who ended up with it 'supposedly' paid £600 for storage charges as the garage owner died suddenly and family had bills to pay so i decided just to walk away from a rusty French shed...

Damn. Is it still legally yours, or not any more?
I mean, surely you’re still the registered keeper, right? So if anyone tries to register it in their name, you’ll be notified of the attempted change of ownership, and you can dispute this?
The ad itself looks a bit sketchy to me. Why would the number plates be blurred out if it was legitimate?
If it was me, I would report it to the police as stolen, immediately.
