I've been offered an MX-3 V6 cheap. The engine would drop virtually straight in to the AZ-1 so I'm a bit tempted but not sure...
Plus side: engine would be basically stock, so reliable, would start in the winter, better torque and would look pretty cool sat in the engine bay.
It would also leave me with a spare Adaptronic that I could try on the Beat
Minus side: Slightly less bhp, more weight (about 25kg), higher road tax, shed loads of work, and it wouldn't be Kei!
just dont know what to do...
Don't get me wrong - I love it when it's working, but the cycle of 'tweek something for a bit more power, oops now that broke', has been going on for 4 years now and I'm starting to get a bit bored with it.
The option of a bigger engine. better reliability and a similar power output starts to sound very tempting:)
I had thought about that many a time with my new project I'm trying to plan, as I can easily(and a hell of alot cheaper)get more power out of a bigger engine like a red top, however I was always keen on keeping with the Kei class so sticking with the small engines.
But with that it is entirly upto you as everyone has there own preferences and it would defo be diffrent if you had a v6 in it (^_^)
And you could put some tuning into the v6 to far outweigh the lower Bhp level
Hmmmm.... I see what your saying, but isn't it nice when you hear people talking about it getting the engine size completely wrong and you get to say.... "No it's not a 1.3 it's 660cc". People really don't believe me some times.
We're here for a good time, not a long time.
Well it was an easy choice in the end - just had to check my bank account, I'm skint! so it's a no-go, at least for now...
It does look like a good option as an engine swap for the AZ-1 though. Not massive amounts of work, as engine swaps go, and it certainly would be interesting
