I did manage to buy some copen rods from japan 3000 yen only so worth a punt.

2003 Copen rod on the left of pic, 1996 jb-jl on right, looking at them i can't see any difference however i'm yet to measure them up with calipers, at least i'll have a spare set.

Stripping down the JB-JL to compare the rods and for machining , the jb-jl uses the same crank as the copen also, ie with rolled crank journals and pins, so you can not machine them, I think you can have them polished though.Yeah i know i need a workbench hey.



New timing chain oil pump assy from a jb-det , fitted with a new jb-jl water pump so it clears the chassis rail on the L5 and L6.

Purchased two Enkei rims from the Suzuki Ignis sport 15x5 +45 Offset , this will keep them under the guards,4x100 PCD need some 165x50 R15 Tyres so i can get the correct ride height.Cannot use the original struts with the knuckle i'm using as the bolt holes don't line up and the strut assy is to long anyway.Just two for now till i get the hub swap sorted.

Thinking con rods/cranks here's a comparision pic of a JB-DET crank and rod v the JC-DET crank and rod.


Makes me think that maybe i should look for a jc- det crank rod setup, or throttle back a bit, maybe a smaller turbo VQ -30 size. like the avanzato X2 and X4 used.

Not to sure, about the final configuration as yet. I can pm you if a front mount cooler turns out to be the best option, depends if i use the latter model head or not.

Basic clean up of the JB-JL head , so i can inspect the valve gear, cam journals are fine . that's a relief.
