Ohhhhhh You sir have made me rather jelous there.
That is quite possibly the cleanest jbjl engine ive seen (^_^)
Cant wait to see this progress
Would definatly like to see your move at one of our meets
Forgot to mention the car is located in Australia... still hoping to share info idea's etc. the JB is clean but internally the thing was full of sludge and varnish and like everything on and off the car was imported from japan.
Ohhhhh lol may be a bit of a trek for you to bring it to one of the meets then (>_<)
Definatly want to see lots of pics of the progress then dude
So did you rebuild it or just clean it up internally?
Whats it like getting parts over there for Daihatsu`s?
Daihatsu much maligned over here, there's little interest, especially in something like this move. It wouldn't be taken seriously, and most blokes will just laugh, therein lies the attraction for me though.
Move sold in very limited numbers over here and as Daihatsu are no longer sold here spare parts are hard to find new or otherwise, just about everything I buy is sourced from japan. With EMS post though , I can get most things in 3-5 days. JB needs a rebuild only because the cross 4 forged pistons I brought are 0.5 oversize that's the 2nd last oversize available on the JB.
Moves can get a fairly similar reaction over here...and for the very same reason to me thats all part of the attraction too (^_^)
im currently building a jb engine set up with a big target bhp using a jbdet block with a jbjl head.
If you rebuild it and can get hold of some jbdet(copen) conrods i think they may fit(im not 100% sure as im using a complete jbdet block) and their thicker and stonger than the jbjl ones.
Just thouht that may be worth looking into if your going to rebuild it
Thanks for the info re-copen rods, I'll see if I can get my hands on one for comparison. TR-XX trans arrived from japan with the viscous LSD and axle set, I also brought spare input and output shafts... with another LSD unit and axles that I already had for a mira l500 project. Interesting is the short shafts to help combat torque steer. Box has a 3.333 first gear and 4.7 final.
