Powderham 7th & 8th July
I know this clashes with Japfest2 but for anyone that isn't going there's this -
It's in my "must attend" list for shows and, like last year, I've booked us a small stand there. Have a browse through the pics on their site of past years.
If anyone is interested in coming drop me a pm and I'll let you have more details.
For all of you who didn't come - well done you didn't miss much although, any Zato owners might have had a bit of fun
We got down on friday afternoon to be advised not to try and drive into the camping area but put the cars straight on the stand due to the mud! Parked up and lugged all the camping gear up to the caming area. After getting settled in we went down, moved the cars to the stand and set that up. Looked good, even with only 3 cars (AB & C), but as we were finishing it started to rain!
As the evening went on it rained more and more and come the morning the whole site was awash (the night of the flying gazebos - 2 were 1/2 a mile away in the lake!) - the only people having fun were the guys in 4WD's and tractors! Show was called off!!! so lug all the camping stuff back to the cars and set off home only the AZ-1 wouldn't start! RAC Help!!!
RAC man wouldn't come onto the exhibition field, because of the mud, but a nice HiLux owner towed me out onto the road. Electrics on the car were sodden but Mr RAC managed to get it running with lots of water repellent spray and a 'tow start'. (Kath managed to drive the Beat out onto the road with no problems)
Got 1/2 way home and my dodgy clutch finally gave out! RAC again, who towed me off the motorway to the next services, but the truck they sent out to get me home was too big, wheels were too close together to fit on the towing frame, so a long wait for a flat bed tow.
Finally got back at 10pm, cars were packed and ready to go at 1:30, so not the best journey home
No pics, you all know wht mud looks like! If you don't remember, just think of those muddy pics of Glastonbury a few years ago and you'll get the idea
I'm still going back next year, and they've moved it to the 13/14th July so, with any luck, it wont clash with Japfest2
Sorry to hear it didn't go to plan, I know you really enjoy that show.
Will your AZ-1 be OK?
Shame it didn't go that well this year, and hope you get the az1 fixed soon :thumb:
However you will be pleased to know you wernt the only Kei car getting towed out by a hilux and then having the jorney home on a recovery truck(see japfest2 pics) :
