emo KKITP - North Wales run

10 Jan 2011 23:19 #7147

Event: 2011 North Wales Run
Where: Ty'n y Groes
When: 1pm, Saturday 26th March 2011

Desc: The plan is to meet at one given point (The green arrow), then once there you will all be issued with a map featuring a suggested route to the end location. THIS IS NEITHER A RACE NOR RALLY we can't afford the insurance for that! It's just a fantastic opportunity to take in some fantastic scenery and get some fantastic shots of our cars in their surroundings!

Cost: FREE! Camping however is extra!

The first meeting point is off the A470, near Ganllwyd.
It's a picnic site called Ty'n y Groes
Click here for their website and here for a map .

The suggested route will take roughly 2hrs, however there are short cuts if you really want to miss most of the breath taking scenery! Then we will all meet up at the end point for a group photo of the survivors! haha

Last year was a real hoot, you can read about it here:

We intend to hire the climbing hut next to the one we had a social in on the night last year, whilst still not quite hotel standard it does have a shower, and heaters, and cooking facilities (and for that reason I need to know how many would like to stay in the hut).

Attendees
Emily, Jamie, Neil, Lana and Victoria (My 'other' family hehe)
Old-uns (Honda Beat)
Don (Honda Beat)
Pikachu (Copen)
Stram (Copen)
Curlywurly (Copen)

Maybes

Arrgh - we can't do this, folks insist on having weddings and our car will still be in hibernation.

The way things look at the moment our next free weekend will be RSCS.

Really good drive and good social too!

Hi,
I'm a KKITP newbie but very interested in this as I love both my Copen and the North Wales scenery.  I'm interested in stopping overnight and am used to youth hostels.  Is the hut a sort of camping barn and do I need a sleeping bag etc.

Excellent news Dave!

And Martin it would be great if you can join us. It is indeed a converted cattle shed, it has a shower and cooking equipment but you will need to bring a sleeping bag. There's also a campsite over the road, but it would be nice to spend the evening at least in the hut like we did last year and just have dinner/chat/drinks

Sounds ideal - I just didn't want to bring a sleeping bag if I didn't need one as luggage space is a bit tight on a Copen with the roof down.
Looking forward to meeting new friends.
