I had time to have a proper look earlier this evening - the gearbox sump plug was finger tight, if that, no wonder all the oil fell out the minute it got warm. This isn't bad luck it's total incompetance >
I'm going to try re-filling it with oil tomorrow and see if I can drive the car. If I can then I'll try and find a local, transmission, place that will replace all the bearings for me. It looks like the box will come out without dropping the engine so, hopefully, it wont take too long to get sorted. On the plus side, the new engine is running flawlessly
What a wonderful show! Thanks Kirsty for your post on SCORE and Don for the stand pass.
It was great to meet Don, Kath and Irene and partner/husband? (whose name I can't remember - sorry) for our Cappo's first outing to a show. I want an AZ-1, a Beat and most of the other cars at the show!
I'd started a reply saying 'hope you got home OK, Don' when I realised I hadn't seen page 2 of this topic. I'm so sorry to hear about your gearbox. I do hope you can get it fixed without too much hassle (or cost!).
I'll post a couple of photos if I can work out how to do it. Hope to see you again next year (or before).
Hi there and welcome caravonica
To post pics you can upload them to a hosting site such as photobucket or create your own album here in the gallery. To post them here click 'Menu' above and then 'Gallery'. Next create your own album by clicking 'My Albums' then 'New Album'. There looks like a lot of settings but they should be pretty much set up so that you can just post your pics. If you run into any problems either Em or myself should be able to sort it out.
Looking forward to seeing some pics soon. :thumb:
Oh no Don!
That's just awful. I'd give you a big hug if my arms were long enough.
After researching this a bit I've decided to just ignore it - it seems they actually have no legal right to charge me anything unless I caused their client (the services) to lose money. As the car park was 9/10ths empty at the time I think they might have problems getting a civil court to agree to that. In fact our extended stay generated their client additional revenue as we wouldn't have bought food and more overpriced coffee if this hadn't happened.
On a plus side, I've found a company in Bristol that is prepared to rebuild the gearbox for me - it's just a matter of getting it out now. It's 1/2 way there, but will now have to wait for a couple of weeks while I have a well earned holiday in Cyprus
